From Kentucky to Boulder, Rich Wood with a Rich History

Occasionally we like to highlight companies, individuals, and groups that are taking innovative approaches to re-use and recycling as it relates to design and development. One such company, Antique Arbor, is reclaiming timber from Kentucky tobacco barns, many of which are nearing the end of their useful lives and are poised for reincarnation. Based out of Manhattan, the company operates a showroom in Boulder, allowing potential buyers to see the wood firsthand without having to travel to the tobacco farms of Kentucky. The richness of the wood and the tight grain structure become magnified as the beams are finished. I could really see these beams being incorporated into a very contemporary setting, combining the old and the new.
