City Bike Racks

As mentioned earlier on this site, the City of Boulder has purchased a quantity of bike racks to attach to the recently-beheaded parking meter poles. I saw one being installed last Friday, and thought I’d post a picture of it here to fuel ideas for our Bike Rack Design Competition.
These new racks are pretty basic, but functional, and have been used in various cities around the country. One nice touch about these, and an important one from a safety standpoint, is that the pole itself is being capped on the top.
We’re currently working on guidelines for our bikerack design competition, and will post them on our Bikerack page when they’re ready.
