Art at the Airport? Yeah, that's what I said when a friend turned me on to it Sunday afternoon. Really glad I went out there. I was pleasantly surprised to not only find thought provoking contemporary art in Boulder, but that a relatively large amount of it had sold (and at $1000+ a pop).
Could it be that Boulderites are actually finding out that $ will buy more than fancy mountain bikes.

Thanks for the positive remarks from everyone! A quick note on techniques, there were no digital enhancements to the work displayed at the show.

It was great to have so many out visiting and we are very happy about the positive feedback. Stay tuned for more from us in the future...

Overall a cool exhibit. Jyrki Parantainen's work was my favorite because of his technique. I think the "Personal Museum" piece was a photo of a photo - how else could he have pulled that off? There's no way that was a photoshop job. Would have preferred to see the camera image in Antti's work a little less. Kind of took away from the mystery of a few of the pieces. The photographs of the garages were great - the color, angels, strong and industrial feel; very unique especially considering you can't see that in Boulder. The space was fun to visit and I hope for an event that would absorb my time in the future in the same space. Happy that Contemporary5 is here. Would be cool if they opened a gallery.

I made the trek to the Boulder Municipal Airport last night and was privileged to meet Sam and Ivan, the founders of Contemporary5. It's nice to see the level of professionalism that exists in other cities here in Boulder. I hope that this trend will continue and we can finally raise the bar artistically and professionally. Boulder needs more events like this and to attract people who appreciate it.
