Can I have that design to - go, please?
Apr 1st, 2008 by rlsorbe
On our continued search for good design, I have discovered something so simple that we most likely never think about its design - to-go containers! As you have experienced, there are many types of containers out there - some eco-friendly, some recyclable, some reusable and some that are worth admiring. Below I have photographed and created three categories that I deem better design then most. The first, Noodle & Company - Functional Design. The second, Eco Products - design and product development. And the third, Tee & Cakes - fun and functional.
Noodle & Company:

With a simple design, this to go container is compact with three secure closing points and a heat releasing slit to prevent condensation. Made from waxed paper, it’s constructed on-site by the consumer so easy to store and recyclable. With both function and simplicity, this container has made the list as a well designed safe food carrier.
Eco Products

These containers encompass an eco-conscious design. The sugarcane paper product (on the left) is a renewable resource and safe for the environment - sugarcane takes only one year to reach maturity as opposed to trees that take up to 30 years. This container is 100% compostable and can take as little as 45 days to decompose in a commercial composting facility. The “plastic” containers are actually made from an annually renewable resource - USA grown corn. These too are completely compostable and decompose in 45 - 60 days. Both functional and eco-friendly, these food containers encompass good, responsible design.
Tee & Cakes:

Selling Tee & Cakes (literally), this Boulder shop loads their goodies into a fun and simple box the shape of a present! With each purchase, whether a gift or self-indulging treat, these fanciful boxes follow the overall pink theme, reminiscent of a French style bakery. Quality cakes in a fun and pretty box that’s functional, reusable and recyclable.
