This was a great event last night - I enjoyed listening to David Trubridge's approach to design through natural elements found throughout his travels and the world, as well as his insight to sustainability in design. Likewise, it was interesting to hear about the history of EMECO, and about the individual craft that goes into each chair (12 man hours/chair). As the original chairs are still around today, it made me feel good that things in today's world are still built to last. Lastly, the importance of the design processes discussed at the event stuck out in my mind - i'd like to see more design processes take into account their impacts on our local and national communities.
