Hypercolor is Back
Jul 8th, 2008 by rlsorbe
Generra Sportswear created the craze of hypercolor t-shirts back in the early 90’s; and today, the fashion trend is back. In California, Anzenvino and Florence’s team of designers have added a fashionable spin to hypercolor with their 2008 line of t-shirts, racer-back tank dresses, scarves and more. Common retailers such as Puma and American Apparel have jumped on the band-wagon too, bringing hypercolor to our everyday threads.
If your interested in adding your own personal touch this heat-sensitive design, click on
Bodyfaders.com. This is a great resource for learning more about this dynamic infusion process that has hit the fashion industry. Body Faders sells materials to make your own fashion and products, offering custom screen printing and dyeing, as well as selling preprocessed fabrics by the yard.
As you join this trend, remember this gear is dyed with heat-sensitive pigment - so it is only washable in cold water, and heat will destroy the hypercolor of the product.

I would like to see some of our local graphic designers and illustrators bring hypercolor back to Boulder - this is a trend i haven’t seen hit this market, and I think it would catch on quick.
I am the Vice President of Body Faders and a small correction to the beginning story. The new Dyenamic Infusion process can be washed in warm water and can withstand heat. When screen printing the blanks we supply to our resellers they can cure plastisols at 320 degrees on the dryer conveyer with no issues. It took three years of research to solve this problem which no other company in the world has available. We have improved the UV exposure decay issue by 5 times. This is still not something you want to sun bathe in but it can handle a lot more sun than the 90s versions.
