In Threads, Michelle Loughlin’s embroidery works and installations illuminate the interconnectedness between knot and form, fiber and everyday life. Documenting city dumping grounds, abandoned buildings and redevelopment zones in the Metropolitan area onto large scale vinyl mesh banners, Loughlin revitalizes and heartens the recorded landscapes with non traditional needle work. Loughlin responds to the sites’ conditions , landscape, and surroundings with the use of texture, color, line, pattern.
Threads is composed of two solo exhibitions featuring Michelle Loughlin and Matt Pass currently being exhibited at the Object + Thought Gallery in Denver. For more information, visit Woolpunk: http://www.woolpunkstudios.com/Site/HOME.html
The pictures don’t do it justice. The exhibit is much cooler in person.
I agree, the exhibit is amazing and worth seeing first hand. it is a unique arrangement of thought, textile, and color.
