Sustainable Waves will be has partnered with New Belgium’s Tour de Fat, and they will be in Fort Collins this Saturday, September 6th. This tour travels through 11 western cities spreading the good word about the positive societal offerings of the bicycle. Costumes and decorated bikes reign supreme as the participants come to ride in the bike parade, then gather in the merriment of good music, entertainment, and tasty beer.
Sustainable Waves is providing the solar entertainment throughout the tour. They are a company that specializes in sustainable energy solutions for the entertainment industry, providing solar powered stages, sound systems, lighting and a variety of conscious products and consulting service.
I recently checked out one of their solar stages (image below) from the Sustainable Living Roadshow gathering during the Democratic National Convention. It worked well and was aesthetically appealing to the crowed. I wonder what would it look like to bring solar to some of our local events, for example, the Boulder Farmers Market? Could the vendors and music venue run on solar?

Communikey Electronic Festival of the Arts and Dorkbot 303 gatherings are two more events that come to mind. What other “events” could solar panels be used in conjunction with?
