Inside the Studio: Imulus

Continuing with our series, Inside the Studio, we continue with Imulus, who provides web design and marketing solutions for technology companies:
When we first moved into 3775 Iris we were upstairs in Suite 6 for 3 years. The space was loft-ish but very tight so we needed to move into a bigger space. We briefly flirted with the idea of buying our own commercial space for a short time before deciding to approach our landlords with a full remodel of an existing vacant office. Suite 1b was beneath our office on the first floor. It sat on the market for 4 years without any serious interest. The office was dark and fully walled off. Our plan was to kick down all the walls and mini-offices in favor of an open layout.

Away with walls closed office spaces:

We had the landlord rip out the florescent lighting in favor of warmer track lights. The half walls were left to provide some privacy between desks; while also hiding wiring. The layout works well for open discussion but it’s a double-edge sword because the ambient office noise makes phone calls difficult.

Scott Hooten, our Creative Director and Aida Ceric, Designer; worked together on the colors for the office. They are based on the corporate color palette and they were chosen to bring color and emotion to the office rather then the usual beige, blue and gray in most offices.

Rather then a white board (image below) we mounted aluminum sheets on the wall. We found that the white board markers work fine on aluminum and it gives us the added ability to use magnets to post our creatives and concepts…. along with Barack Obama posters.

I love the color palette of the office. Nice work!
