Design Competition: CU Biodiesel Production Facility
Oct 8th, 2008 by contributor

CU Biodiesel, a non-profit student organization dedicated to the advancement of biodiesel awareness and use, is hosting a competition to design their mobile biodiesel processing unit, ESTER:
Our most ambitious project is ESTER, a mobile modular biodiesel processing unit housed in a trailer. ESTER’s processor will be capable of brewing 30 gallons of biodiesel from waste vegetable oil. ESTER will transform our organization. As of now we can only talk about biodiesel, but with ESTER we will be able to give hands-on demonstrations of the practicality and ease of biodiesel. The ESTER trailer provides the opportunity to show people green energy live in the making. A real biodiesel processor gathers attention in a way that a table and posters do not. ESTER will be incorporated into the Project Yellow Bus curriculum and will help to teach our Biodiesel 101 workshops. This mobile biodiesel station will tour the state of Colorado and the nation to showcase the ease and practicality of efficient renewable energy.
