Inside the Studio: Voltage Advertising and Design
Dec 20th, 2008 by contributor

When looking for our space, we found the right rent and perfect location in an unfinished storage area in the basement of an office building in downtown Louisville. We knew we could turn it into the space we wanted with the right paint, lighting, and furniture. The concrete floors and exposed duct work suited the gritty industrial environment of a design studio and the name VOLTAGE. One of the focal points of the space is a 20 foot hand painted version of our logo, and a 7 foot tall, 150 pound red metal lightning bolt that was found on Craigslist. The lighting was hung from the rafters - at great peril - and are all metal clip work lights from homedepot - with the rest of our furniture, desks, lamps and 3 pendants from IKEA.

The design of the space definitely influences our creativity - the environments’ relaxed and the music is loud. We love working here and our clients tend to stay much longer than needed - maybe it’s the fact that we opted for the client “lounge” with sofa and love-seat rather than the traditional conference table - and we keep the mini fridge well stocked. We love working in the VOLTAGE lair and hope to soon expand to the storage room next door. - Come by and visit anytime: http://www.voltagead.com/
